Is there a positive connection between civil society organisations and the functioning of public life? Of course, as the American scientist Robert Putnam demonstrated this impressively in his first “Italian study” 30 years ago.
Researchers at the Vienna University of Economics and Business are now investigating empirically the nature of these relationships looking at Austrian associations in their local context to know more about the interactions between regional politics, business, organised civil society and civic activities in more detail.
The duration of the project “Putnam 2.0” will be from 2018 to 2024. We are very excited about the outcomes regarding the perspective and discussion of the European researchers.
