Danube women and the role of macro-regions in Europe

A group of committed civil society activists and researchers from Danube countries were following the footsteps of women personalities along the river Danube. Listening to stories about successful and famous men and seeing the many streets named after them, it is striking how only a few streets are named after women and how many historical monuments are built in honor of men – but hardly for the remembrance of women.

The Danube region offers a great opportunity to discuss such social issues with experts from different fields. The cross-border consequences of projects like “Danube Women Stories” are very relevant for tourism, business and science. Other macro regions can also learn from the Danube women experiences!
